Well it has been a long time since I posted and I think I should at least post about the biggest thing that has happened in the last month. Baby Joshua was born. September 30th 2011. He kept the tradition of our kids being born on the last day of the month. September 30, October 31 and November 30. This pregnancy was the easiest. Everyone said I looked big . . . ok Huge with this baby and I gained a whopping 40lbs. Hey don't judge I thought this might be our last baby and I decided to take advantage of eating extra food. At our 20 week appointment the ultrasound showed that baby Joshua was measuring 8 days small. So the doctor changed my due date. to October 5. It was originally September 27. The doctor asked if I wanted to be induced if the baby did not come on his own. For the convenience of having a babysitter I decided yes we would. This time we actually chose the 30th for our induction date.
Brandon had a conference to go to on Friday the 30th. I told him the hospital wouldn't call me until that afternoon anyways so he should go to the conference and I would let him know when I was to go to the hospital. I was going to have my mom take me to the hospital and I would get all hooked up before I called Brandon. I needed to get some antibiotics before the baby so I figured I had time. Well that plan did not work out. The hospital called me first thing in the morning.
We dropped the kids off at my moms (Trent would watch them later). As I got all hooked up they checked me and said I was a 3+ but the baby was still way high. They started the antibiotics and needed at least four hours. A few hours later they checked again and I was a 4. So I was progressing on my own. After the second dose of antibiotics they broke my water and started pitocin. I was slowly dialating and effacing but baby still did not want to engage. I was getting some contractions but nothing really steady. During this time I wasn't sure if I wanted an epidural or not. I was feeling some pain but not a ton. My family that was there all wanted me to get the epidural and the nurse was kinda of wanting an answer. The anestisiologist was going into a c-section and would be unavailable for an hour or so. It was time to make a decision. The pain was still tolerable but I knew the baby still wasn't engaged. I finally decided to get one. During this time the nurse had me lay on my side to try and get the baby engaged. After the epidural they flipped me to my left side. All the sudden I felt huge pressure. The nurse hadn't even left the room when I said I need to push. She came over and said yep this baby is on its way. They called Dr. Gravelle in and prepared to have a baby.
The time came to start pushing. I was thinking since I have a small baby this will be easy like Madison m(she took two pushes and slipped all the way out) Well I start pushing and baby starts coming out. After about 15-20 mins of pushing baby Joshua came out. The first thing from the dr's mouth was whoa thats a huge baby. He is heavy. Look at his double chin" Ya ok what happened to my "little baby"
Joshua was born at 9lbs 6 oz and 22.5 inches long. He was a big baby. I didn't think he was chubby just really long and big. He was perfect though. I loved him the second he was there. I had the pleasure to share this birth with Brandon, My mom. Mary, Lindsey and Maquelle. It was fun to share that with everyone.
